The Matched Dozen

Why twelve arrows from the same box don't group the same, and what we do about it.

Every carbon shaft leaves a factory inside a tolerance. A tolerance is a range, not a promise about the arrow in your hand: a box marked ±0.003" can hold arrows that are perfect and arrows that sit at the edge, and it never tells you which is which. Archers find out at the target, then sort the dozen by hand and retire the fliers.

We sort before you pay. Each shaft is measured for deflection on a 28" span at multiple orientations, weighed to 0.1 grain, and its stiff side is found and marked. Those numbers become a point in a multi-dimensional space. When you order, you tell us your discipline, and the matching model weights the measurements for it: weight consistency first for indoor, deflection tightness first for outdoor compound, both equally for 70 m recurve, durability and weight for 3D and field, forgiving bands for youth sets. It then selects the twelve arrows from the pool that sit closest together and holds the next six for you as spares.

The certificate in your tube lists every arrow: deflection, weight, index position and cluster score. The two arrows with the lowest cluster score are the ones to nock-tune first. The QR code opens the same data and your pool statistics.

What we don't claim: a matched dozen won't fix form, a bad rest or a mis-set nocking point. It removes the arrow as the variable. That is the whole idea.
